A New Production of Dmytro Bortnianskyi’s Alcide – Premiere Performance

DRESS CODE: Cocktail

When someone considers the music of the classical period, rarely does the name of the Ukrainian composer, Dmytro Bortnianskyi, come to mind. And yet, he created works for some of the most famous European theatres of his time. This was partly due to him being able to gain a true European education in Italy, the cradle of the opera genre. This year marks the 240th anniversary of the opera premiere Alcide by Dmytro Bortnianskyi, composed in 1778 to the libretto by Pietro Metastasio.
